There’s honestly nothing more awkward than me at a book signing.
And, despite this–yes, I’m going to be at a book signing!
Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 30th, from 11am until 2pm at the Bethel Park Public Library, in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. I’m going to be there. Refreshments will be there. You, too, should be there.
I’ll have paperback copies of With Me Now as well as–get this–a limited number of paperback copies of Haunt. Right now, Haunt is only available as part of our super awesome box set Paranormal After Dark on Amazon, but if you’re at the signing on 4/30, I’ll have ten copies available.
So, there’s that.
In the meantime, I got to play the role of part time model recently. Which, yes, was basically as awesome as I thought it would be. I’d like to think I’m a lot of America’s Next Top Model but, lets be honest, I think I’m a lot more RuPaul’s Drag Race. Hilarious. Awkward. Weird cheek bones that require sculpting with makeup. But, I did learn that yes, in fact, awesome sunny pictures are taken in the super cold weather.
I had fur leg warmers on my arms. We’re playing for real, kids. Playing for for real.
These pictures are going to be used for promotions for the Steampunk Unlimited event at Strasburg Railroad in October. Which, as a side note, you should also go to. As soon as I get more pictures other than this tremendous selfie, I’ll post. I made some crazy awesome friends at the shoot and, like there was any doubt, I’m completely obsessed with steampunk.
I met Steampunk Iron Man. Come on.
Because I’m ultra glam, I had no shame in hiding in the bathroom and warming up my hands under the hand dryer. I stepped aside to wait for my girls to finish washing their hands and warming up. As socially awkward as I am, I like to think I’m pretty good at blending in with walls and looking cool when inside I’m really just one shuffle away from tripping over my own feet and falling on my face.
And then my butt felt really, really warm.
Which, is pretty odd.
I realized (slowly, come on, it was cold) that I’d somehow…lets say, bustled my butt underneath a hand dryer and the junk in my trunk turned it on. Maybe my butt has this effect on more than just hand dryers, but there I was: butt out, snuggled up against the hand dryer and warming up all the important parts. Toasty warm, baby.
It was short lived, of course, but us ladies are tough (“bustle up, ladies!”) and we rocked it. Then we hung out in The President’s Car and laughed and wheeled and dealed and, look, you’ll just have to wait until the pictures are ready. Word on the street is that there *could* be a billboard in the future.
That’s me: author and part time model.
Now that that excitement is over, I need to a) finish the sequel to With Me Now, b) figure out how to be awesome and spunky at the book signing on 4/30 (did you write it down yet?) and c) start training for my next 5k. I ran a 5k this past weekend and, boy howdy, it was a beast. My ankles hurt. Thanks a lot, April, for being cold and miserable, because I’ve been running on a treadmill of late and that’s apparently useless when running outside. Boo on that.
But, I got free hard cider, a t-shirt, a glass, and a medal. Oh, and a free banana. Hot dang. that’s a lot of freaking work for a free banana.
