Mother of God.
I ate so freaking much today, it’s not even funny.
So, I’ve been doing Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred.  I’m doing this for two reasons:
1.  I make delicious donuts and always eating approximately one more than I should, and
2.  I have fat upper arms.
Maybe it’s not so much “fat” upper arms, but toneless upper arms.  It’s a family trait–my cousin Missy calls them “arm pockets” and they get all wibbly wobbly, flippy flappy.  It’s just.  Well, it’s distracting.  I’m in a wedding in three weeks and my dress requires a substantial lack of wibbly wobbly-ness.
So, therefore, I’m toning.  And, really, it feels good to get in shape.  And…apparently my scale is broken, so for some time I thought I gained five pounds.  In two days.  But, now that that’s all cleared up, I’m actually really into this whole toning, working out health thing.
To a point.
I took a break today for the Easter holiday.  It didn’t start out as a break day…but then one serving of delicious food led to another, which then turned into, “Hey, let’s make humus!” which then turned into, “Hey, I’ve never used these mini loaf pans and it’s been awhile since I made bread!  Let’s see what’s on Pinterest!”
Holy.  Crap.
I bucked tradition today and made chicken tortilla soup (which, side note, I hated and sent home with my mother), beer/brown sugar braised kielbasa and applesauce breadsauerkraut (words cannot adequately describe how fantastic they were), randomly made but equally delicious corn cake, the aforementioned humus, and applesauce bread–four mini loaves of applesauce bread.  Plus, there was the amazing blueberry/white chocolate cheesecake my mother made.  And chocolate covered coconut cream eggs.  And pretzels (honey wheat, that’s kind of healthy).  And cantaloupe.  And then because I felt like I’d eaten too much, but still needed dinner, I had some oatmeal.  With butterscotch chips.
I feel like my Thanksgiving turkey looked before I put it in the oven: stuffed.  Skinny neck.  Embarrassingly pale.
Despite all that, I totally want more cheesecake.
So, meanwhile, because I don’t have enough to do during the day, I signed up to do the A to Z Challenge.  I’ll be honest, I didn’t actually spend a lot of time reading all the details.  I’d just taken a Tums and was hoping it would either work, or I’d just throw up all the food that was making my stomach hurt.  Anyway, the challenge is for the month of April, you blog every day except Sunday (apparently much like my workout/diet takes a break on Sundays, so do blog challenges).  Day One is A.  Day Two is B.  And so on and so forth.  If I’m understanding correctly–and like I said, I spent a whole thirty seconds reading over the details–Day One is an A related topic.  Like abs.  Or antacids.  Day Two is a B related topic, like beer.  Or bras.  And if that’s not how it works….well, look, that’s how it’s going to work.  At least for me.  I’m not entirely sure how much of this challenge I’ll actually get accomplished, but I’m going to put effort into it.  I figure, if nothing else, it will be a cool writing exercise that hopefully will keep the writing juices flowing.  In theory, if I stay creative, the creativity will bleed over into my editing.
That’s the way I’m looking at it right now anyway.  Check in with me tomorrow and we’ll see if I’ve actually remembered to blog Day One.
How about that Dr. Who season premier?  Or The Walking Dead season finale?  I’ve suddenly become this colossal Chris Hardwick fan.  Of all the excellent television programming I partook in over the last several days, the thing that disappointed me was the premier or Orphan Black.  I was really only a fan of the gay best friend, Felix.  Lunch with Chris Hardwick, Norman Reedus, The Doctor, and Felix?  Game on.
