Well, it was a year.

I’m weird (there’s a newsflash).  I don’t like even numbers for some, bizarre reason (so, when you read I got my fourth tattoo, anticipate me getting a fifth).  I’ve never liked turning even ages (22 was mind numbing for me) and I don’t like the turn of a new, even numbered year.  I’m actually looking forward to 2016, though.  I have high hopes.

I’ve long given up on making New Year’s resolutions because, namely, I’m easily distracted and a quitter.  I’ve now taken to setting some goals for myself.  Goal sounds positive.  Goal sounds attainable.

But first, let’s take a quick look back at 2015:

  • Changed my hair color four times
  • Completed two novels
  • Published one novel.  Yay!
  • Got an agent.  Yay!!
  • Ran my first, second, and third 5k races
  • Traveled
  • Made cool new friends (Kelly, Nick, and Becca, I’m looking at you)
  • Got a cat (that noise you hear is The Hubs groaning)
  • Had my first book signing and it was terrifying
  • Saw One Direction in concert (wooooooooooooo!)

And I lived, laughed, loved, drank, swore, and worked out.  I also danced a lot and was part of the “fun couple” in my bestie’s wedding.

Sooooooo, live up to that, 2016.

I actually feel like 2016 is going to be a good year.  “A banner year!”–I say, in my best old timey voice.  So, either 2016 is going to be kick ass, or 2016 is going to be the zombie apocalypse.

And, with that in mind, I present my 2016 Goals: Let’s hope I’m close to one or two.

  • Finish three novels–at least
  • Run more 5k races than I did this year
  • Figure out this mysterious thing called “marketing your book”
  • Try a new food
  • Get a massive tattoo
  • Pray more
  • Do something that scares me

Let’s discuss that last one.  I don’t mean, like something illegal or something like, cave diving or walking a high wire above the Grand Canyon or something.  I mean like, something that I find petrifying; such as, but not limited to: reading aloud in front of a large group of people, ride a rollercoaster, get my ear pierced again.

Today I drove 5mph over the speed limit with a cop right behind me.  I felt like I was driving Bonnie and Clyde’s getaway car.

I don’t get out much.  Let’s be honest.

Also: our neighbors are already shooting off fireworks.  Scared the piss out of me because, despite the fact I’m writing a New Year’s Eve post, I forgot it was New Year’s Eve.

Time to pour another glass of Southern Comfort and Sierra Mist, dance a little harder, and write a little looser.  Hoping you all have a blessed New Year filled with all that you want and more than you could have dreamed.  And no zombie apocalypse.

Peace out, 2015!!
