I’ll give you three guesses on where I’m currently blogging from and the first two don’t count.
I know, I know, it seems like I can’t go two weeks without being in Gettysburg.  And, coincidentally, it’s been about two weeks since I was here.  Maybe three.  Anyway, we’re back again.
And in the middle of NaNo, no less, which is not helpful for maintaining word count.  I’m behind anyway.  I’m okay with that, don’t get me wrong, because nothing inspires me to write more than being here.  Wriggling in history.  Oh and you better believe I’ll be wriggling in it this weekend.  This has the potential of being the last semi-decent weekend until, like, May.  So I’m living it up.  I even brought actual sneakers and that never happens.  I usually skip around in either clogs or flip-flops.  Do they still call them clogs these days?  They did when I was in high school.  But right now, clogs is bringing to mind wooden shoes, which in turn brings to mind the word sabo and sabotage, which in turn brings to mind Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.
Off.  On.  A.  Tangent.
So, yeah, I’m in Gettysburg.  And I’m writing.  As mentioned, I think I’m behind in my word count but honestly, I don’t want to bum myself out by entering my totals into the NaNo site.  I’m actually really happy with my progress.  I’m on Chapter Five–which I think is a heck of a lot farther than I would be at this point, if it wasn’t for trying to keep up with NaNo.
And in other news, Activia yogurt and I are not friends.
Let’s back up.  We dropped The Toddler and The Baby off with The Hubs’ parents.  We’re old, so we crashed at their house last night, too, with full intention of getting up this morning and “getting on the road.”
“Getting on the road” did not commence until 5pm.  I’m not sure what my brain was thinking and I’m going to blame it on the fact that it’s been hanging out in the 1860s as of late, trying to determine what army was where when.  But I had a Fiber bar thing for breakfast.
And it was delicious.
So, I had a second Fiber bar thing as a snack thirty minutes later.  We’ll call it second breakfast.
I panicked at lunch and had another Fiber bar and an Activia yogurt.  Look, there’s no rationalizing it.  There’s no trying to explain it.  It happened.
My stomach started to hurt about an hour away from my in-laws house.  You know.  On a tiny two lane road with a mind staggering amount of traffic but no places to stop and/or pull over.  I’ll spare you the gory details.
What I’ll do is leave you with words to live by: don’t do it.  Stay away from anything with the word fiber in it–ever, preferably–but especially when you know darn well you’re going to be sitting in the car for two hours.
But, I’m in Gettysburg.  Feeling good.
Okay, my break is over.  Back to the novel.
